Lumitectura

What a great idea:

Lumitectura from barno on Vimeo.

Musicvideo about the relation of light, music and architetcture.

Music by Saltillo
"The Opening" from the album Ganglion.
Go get it on itunes and amazon!

The clip is defined by 3 elements.

-One videofile, shot between 2 and 6 pm.
-The speed of playback of this file, which is synchronised manually to the music.
-About 50 different masks, wich define where the underlayed movie is going to appear on the screen. This makes it possible to have multiple light situations in the same moment.

So basicly, the sunlight caught from the building is the "natural" palette for the entire colors of the clip.

NIN: "Cars" with Gary Numan, London 7.15.09 [HD]

What is interesting about this is how much its a straight up version of the original:

I suppose they thought the best way to pay tribute to someone who was obviously a huge influence was to play the song as originally envisioned with the man himself. I still mark the original video as one of my all time favorites.

Tom Waits + Kool Keith = Awesome

Tom Waits and Kool Keith are both featured on this tune by N.A.S.A. No, not that Nasa, nor the 80's swedish electro-pop band... this is hip hop collaboration super group in the grand tradition led by producers Squeak E. Clean and DJ Zegon

N.A.S.A: Tom Waits + Kool Keith, Spacious Thoughts (BB Video)

Also featured on this album, other totally (non) obvious pairings like David Byrne + Chuck D:

N.A.S.A. "Money" (feat. David Byrne, Chuck D, Ras Congo, Seu Jorge, & Z-Trip)

There is an interview with the video creator Fluorescent Hill over at boing boing

And here's that other Nasa's big 1983 hit for good measure:

More Major Lazer for ya:

Major Lazer, Zumbie Video

Major Lazer are produced by Diplo & Switch (here's an article in the In the New Yorker), who you may remember as the guys who produced M.I.A.'s much sampled, much loved 'Paper Planes'.

If clowns made music videos, this is what they would look like

Anton commented on my last post that the video for Major Lazors insanely bizarre clownish tune "Pon De Floor" was a must see. He was right:

Major Lazer ft Vybz Kartel and Afro Jack - Pon De Floor

Embedding has been disabled, which is probably for the best since it's slightly NSFW. Deliciously so in fact.

Who is Major Lazer???
Major Lazer is a fictional animated character,[1] who (according to press releases) fought as a Jamaican commando and lost his arm in a secret zombie war in 1984.[2] He fights vampires and various monsters, parties hard, and has a rocket-powered hoverboard.

If clowns made dub, this is what it would sound like

Major Lazer - Pon De Floor (ft. VYBZ Kartel)

By some peoples tastes, this song is probably in the running for most irritating song ever, but personally, it blows me a way. In both the "wow, I have to find the 12 inch of this and play it non stop!!" and "wow, someone change the station before I bash out my own brains" senses of the phrase.

"8-Bit Trip" : Mindblowing Lego Animation Video

I've been a huge fan of the retro 8 bit music movement for years, best typified by online record labels like Jahtari and 8bitpeoples, but these guys might take the prize for more ridiculously die-hard:

Apparently this took them 1500 hours of work slowly moving lego bricks and snapping a digital photo for each frame. The rotations and zoom effects they get totally floored me. I made a few 30 second lego movies as a kid so I can fully appreciate the amount of both fun and work that went into this. I'm definitely going to be watching these guys for what they do next.
